Flavorful Mojito Mint (Mentha villosa 'Mojito') is a fantastic Herb with loads of aroma and a wide range of culinary and landscape uses! Originating in Cuba, Mojito Mint is named exactly for the popular cocktail that it is used for! With beautiful green puckery-textured foliage and lovely dark reddish stems, this Mint-family member is a vigorous grower and carries a mild, citrusy mint flavor!

These space-saving plants are very adaptable and grow about anywhere. Sometimes a bit too well, so planting in a confined space and containers to keep them from jumping borders. Mints are wonderful garden plants and have blooms that pollinators adore! The larger leaves are perfect for muddling in drinks and hold up well Mojito Mint isn't just for drinks (but your sun tea and minted waters may disagree) and adds incredible flavor to your desserts, savory dishes, and sauces alike!

Mojito Mint is cold-hardy to many cooler growing zones but is often used as an annual Herb and accent plant. These plants even do great on sunny indoor windowsills and porch containers. Anywhere in the sun is great for these easy-going Herbs!

Planting and Application:

Plant Mints in porch containers and in the kitchen garden and vegetable garden. Just ensure you monitor their growth so they don't get into trouble. Plant a large pot or a collar (sticking 2-inches out of the ground) and plunk your Mint into the middle and fill in with a layer of mulch over the surface. Stake up longer branches or keep your Mojito pinched back into a tight mound to prevent the branches from falling over and rooting anywhere they touch the ground. That’s where the mulch comes into play - making it very easy to pull them out.

Versatile for use as edible landscaping, plant in borders and edging and using Mint as groundcover where it can roam and ramble, not just adds greenery and living mulch to your landscape, but also color and fragrance. Plant them where you will brush past your Mint and perfume the world in that refreshing aroma. Pot up in seating areas and near your barbecue and outdoor bar, or plant in a Vegetable garden or Sensory Garden!

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Herbs are easy-care annual or perennial accents! They just require full sun outdoors, or bright indirect light when indoors. Plant in a location that has well-drained soil and water regularly until established, just don't overwater them. Provide an enriched site with good drainage (especially container plants!) and mulch to keep the roots cool.

To use, just trim off what you need throughout the growing season. Pinching back keeps the plants from getting leggy and encourages branching. Before frost, container plants can be brought in for the winter in cold hardiness zones, or completely harvest your plants near the base of the plant. Wash and hang them to dry, so you can use your Herbs all winter!

  • Full Sun or Bright Indoor Light
  • Enriched Well-Drained Soil
  • Moderate But Regular Moisture
  • Pinch Back to Encourage Branching
  • Great Perennial Herbs in Mild Winter Climates
