#ProPlantTips for Care:

Easy to care for Shrub Roses need plenty of air circulation and lots of daily sunshine. Select a planting site where they'll get morning sun if possible, and ensure they receive at least six or more hours of full sun a day. Consistent water is key to keeping your Roses happy. Spread out a three-inch layer of mulch to keep the root ball cool and moist, but don't let it rest directly against the stems.

No soggy soils for Roses, please. Well-drained soil sheds water quickly to keep its root systems healthy. Bring in more soil for a raised bed or planting mound, if you need to improve drainage. Container-grown Roses also need adequate drainage holes and avoid the use of saucers outside. Use a good slow-release fertilizer in early spring and mid-summer. Choose a formula for flowering plants and follow the directions on the label.

Each fall, rake up and bag fallen leaf litter to place in your yard waste. In early spring, trim the canes down to six inches at a 45-degree angle just above a fat bud. Prune in early spring before you see new growth to 6 - 8 inches above the crown and mulch the site well for insulation and moisture retention.
