  • Sunlight: Give this tree at least 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight daily to ensure it has the energy to produce sweet-tart fruit. If you grow it indoors, place it directly in front of a south-facing window or use a grow light to prevent the branches from becoming weak and leggy.
  • Soil: Key Limequats hate "wet feet," so they need loose, well-draining soil that allows excess water to escape quickly. If your garden has heavy clay, mix in coarse sand and compost or plant in a raised bed to fix drainage and prevent root rot.

Watering Requirements

For the first few months, check the soil every two or three days and water whenever the surface feels dry to help the roots establish. Once the tree is settled, allow the top 2 inches of soil to dry out completely between deep soakings.
