Planting & Care Instructions

Where to Plant

  • Sunlight: These sun-lovers need at least 6 to 8 hours of direct light daily to thrive. While they can handle some light afternoon shade, less sun usually results in "leggy" stems and fewer of those crisp white flower spikes.
  • Soil: Aim for rich, well-draining soil that doesn't stay soggy after a rainstorm. If you are dealing with heavy clay, mix in some compost or aged bark to improve aeration and prevent root rot.

Watering Requirements

During the first few weeks, water your Angelonia whenever the top inch of soil feels dry to help the roots settle into their new home. Once established, these plants are remarkably drought-tolerant, though keeping the soil consistently moist will reward you with much more vigorous blooming. If they get too thirsty for too long, you might notice the lower leaves yellowing or a temporary pause in flower production.

Pruning Tips

Angelface® White is a "self-cleaning" variety, meaning it drops its old blooms naturally and doesn't require deadheading to keep flowering. However, you can give the plant a "haircut" by trimming it back by about one-third in midsummer if it starts to look a bit tired. This encourages a fresh flush of growth and tighter branching, ensuring the plant stays upright and full through the fall.

Fertilizer Needs

Feed your plants once a month during the growing season with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer or apply a slow-release formula in early spring. Avoid using high-nitrogen fertilizers late in the summer, as this can encourage soft green growth that is more susceptible to early frosts. Stick to a formula that supports blooming to keep those white spikes coming until the first hard frost.

The Angelonia Angelface ®White, 'Angelonia angustifolia hybrid', displays gorgeous white flowers. Angelface White comes from a great new series for Proven Winners.

These Angelonias have been bred for flower performance as well as a great upright branching growth habit.

Angelonias in containers make full blooming specimen plants that are great for the patio and yard. Planted in the landscape, Angleface will WOW gardeners.

They will flower well into the fall season. The flower stems are great for making vase arrangements providing enjoyment for 10 days or more.

Use this plant in containers, beds, in combinations, planter boxes or borders.

* For zones 9-11, this plant can also be a perennial.
* Deer resistant
* Drought tolerant
