Sunlight: This hydrangea performs best in six to eight hours of direct morning sun. In hotter climates, provide afternoon shade to prevent the white blooms from browning or wilting prematurely.
Soil: Aim for moist, well-drained soil rich in organic matter. If you have heavy clay, mix in compost or plant in a slight mound to improve drainage and prevent the roots from sitting in standing water.

Watering Requirements

During the first two growing seasons, provide one inch of water per week to help the root system expand. Once established, this hydrangea is quite drought tolerant, but inconsistent watering during heat waves will cause the large flower panicles to droop or result in smaller blooms the following year.

Pruning Tips

Candelabra blooms on new wood, so you should prune it in late winter or very early spring before new growth appears. Cut the stems back by about one-third to a half of their height to encourage sturdy new stems that can support the heavy flower heads. This process is like a structural tune-up that prevents the plant from becoming floppy or thin over time.

Fertilizer Needs

Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as the first leaves begin to emerge. Avoid high-nitrogen fertilizers after mid-summer because they stimulate soft, leafy growth that won't harden off properly before the first frost.

Let’s dance Moonlight bloom regularly - blue

Let’s dance Moonlight have bloomed regularly for about 10 yrs now against the house, mostly north exposure. Originally pink flowers when purchased but transitioned to purple and now blue in our soil. 3’ in ht. When nearby grass was limed they reverted to pinkish purple then back to mostly blue. We are zone 6b and with recent Very hot dry summers they wilt with the brief afternoon sun they get. Unfortunate. May have to consider moving them if these conditions continue every year. Otherwise very pleased with them
