Understanding Plant Options
Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements
Container Plant Sizes

Growing Zones 5-9
The sweet and cultured Cityline® Vienna Hydrangea (Hydrangea macrophylla CITYLINE 'Vienna Rawi') is a dwarf, flowering Proven Winners® ColorChoice® shrub. Your Vienna Hydrangea is sure to "Wow" you with its giant blooms! Each round ball of blossoms consists of a multitude of tiny, individual flowers, and accented by a cream-colored center.
The long-lasting blooms continue all summer long, and will even last until fall! They would be wonderful cut flowers for your kitchen table, or dried for even long-term decor. One of the best things about your Vienna is that even though it produces huge, long-lasting flowers, it does so with little space requirements. Naturally dwarf, you can easily fit one or two into even the smallest landscape!
Like other Cityline® varieties, it was bred for stronger stems to support the heavy flower heads, and Vienna doesn't disappoint. The flowers gradually mature to solid pink or blue, depending upon the soil pH condition - acid for blue and pink for alkaline.
Planting and Application:
Along with its superior strength, it's well-branched, dense and has more flowering stems than most others. Vienna is a low-maintenance plant, and because of its neat, tight habit, it won't even require pruning. You'll certainly want this plant as a center focal piece in your perennial garden or shrub border. These would also be lovely in containers for your front porch.
Bigleaf Hydrangeas rebloom all season so they're perfect for front yard plantings, foundation plantings and throughout the garden bed and border! Pollinator gardens, cottage borders and throughout the mixed-shrub bed. The size makes Vienna perfect for container gardening and front porch planters.

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Bigleaf Hydrangea need some sun to do their best flowering and have the strongest stems, but in hot climates, they do appreciate afternoon shade. Morning sun dries the leaves of dew, reducing instances of powder mildew.
Hardy to USDA growing zones 5-9 these ornamental flowering plants prefer to be planted in moist, well-drained soil. Moisture is a necessity for this plant, so do not let them dry out during the summer's heat. Keep regularly watered and apply a thick layer of mulch over the roots to keep them cool and moist.
Only prune dwarf Bigleaf Hydrangea in early spring to remove winter die-back. Flowering in old wood (last year's) deadhead after Hydrangea have flowered or else you may risk removing next year's blooms. You can renewal prune by removing older, faster, stems that don't bloom as vigorously, cutting them out at ground level.
For blue flowers, Bigleaf Hydrangeas need acidic soil, but alkaline soil will result in pink. Neutral pH may be closer to lavender.
