Dark gorgeous texture, the Wisconsin Juniper bush (Juniperus horizontalis 'Wisconsin') is an outstanding, low-growing Juniper introduced by the University of Wisconsin. Featuring dark, blue-green summer foliage that has a feathery appearance. It is nicely uniform and full naturally!
In contrast, there is usually a light-colored stripe along the length of the top surface of each needle-like leaf, giving it a unique, two-tone appearance! Wisconsin Juniper's branches are comprised of two opposite, mostly small, scale-like, and tightly appressed leaves at each node of the twig.
Once cold temperatures come around, it stands out with a plum winter color. Widely adaptable throughout USDA planting zones 3 to 8, growing just 4 to 6 inches tall, these low-growers spread to an impressive 4 to 6 feet in width!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Doing amazingly well in full sun, Juniper doesn't mind a little afternoon shade or even city conditions. Those blue-green needles will hold their color just fine until the chill enters the air when they become plum-hued for the winter. Not particular to soil type, any well-drained, sandy soils, even rocky or highly aerated soil will do Junipers just fine. Their bane is wet, soggy soil that will rot their roots. All plants appreciate a 3-4 inch deep layer of mulch around the roots all year.
Prune Junipers, if needed to keep their shape in June, after the new growth has time to establish in the late spring. Deer and rabbits usually don’t eat these shrubs unless desperate, and cold winters won't bother these shrubs at all! Give your evergreens a good long drink in the autumn before winter to help prevent winter burn.
