Planting & Care Instructions

Where to Plant

  • Sunlight: Good Vibrations® Gold Juniper thrives in full sun, requiring at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily to maintain its vibrant gold color. While it tolerates light shade, too much shade will cause the foliage to turn greener and the growth habit to become looser and less compact.
  • Soil: This juniper is adaptable to a wide range of soil types but absolutely requires excellent drainage. It performs well in sandy or rocky soils; if you have heavy clay, amend the site with compost or plant in a raised bed to prevent root rot, which is common in waterlogged conditions.

Watering Requirements

Water deeply and regularly during the first growing season to help the extensive root system establish. Once established, Good Vibrations® is quite drought tolerant, but consistent moisture during extreme heat waves keeps the foliage lush and prevents browning at the tips.

Pruning Tips

This plant naturally maintains a low, spreading habit and rarely needs major pruning. If shaping is desired, trim lightly in early spring before new growth emerges; avoid cutting back into old wood that has no green needles, as junipers do not regenerate new growth from bare branches.

Fertilizer Needs

Feed with a slow-release, granular fertilizer formulated for evergreens in early spring just as new growth begins. Avoid applying high-nitrogen fertilizers late in the summer, as this pushes soft new growth that won't have time to harden off before winter freezes.

The Proven Winners® Good Vibrations® Gold Juniper Bush PP#22,743 (Juniperus horizontalis 'Hegedus') is a low-growing Juniper with remarkable changing colors. This delightful Juniper is soft to the touch and changes colors with the seasons. In the spring your Juniper's color emerges as a greenish-yellow that transitions to gold-green for the summer months.

Autumn brings an orange-purple hue to your Juniper's dramatic foliage, providing additional color and definition to the winter landscape! Your Good Vibrations® golden Juniper will stay shorter, but its horizontal branching gracefully arches out to about 11 feet. It's a terrific ground cover with a variety of uses for both the manicured yard and naturalized areas as well.

Hardy throughout a wide range of USDA planting zones 4 to 9, Good Vibrations® Gold grows 1-2 feet tall but can spread very wide! Filling large areas with greenery fast! The elegant arching branches seem to tumble and cascade across the ground beautifully!

Landscape Application:

Its low-growing nature would make a perfect border plant for your perennial bed, foundation hedge, and facer shrub before an older evergreen screen. But the amazingly wide spread of this creeping Juniper makes it most widely grown as a terrific ground cover!

Easy and fast mass plantings to cover ground, stabilize soil, slow erosion, and fill even the trickiest location with year-round greenery! Let these arching branches of Good Vibrations® Gold spill over the tops of your retaining walls, tumble over stones in a rock garden, or transform a dangerous-to-mow hillside into a verdant landscape feature with ease!

  • Greenish-Yellow New Growth In Spring
  • Golden-Green Color All Growing Season
  • Unique Orange-Purple Fall and Winter Color!
  • Upturned Tousled Branching Is Soft To The Touch!
  • Very Wide-Growing, Gracefully Arching Branches
  • Fantastic Groundcover, Edging & Erosion Control

#ProPlantTips for Care:

The Good Vibrations® Juniper is a drought-tolerant, deer-resistant plant that won't require any of your time or energy! It's tolerant of most conditions and generally takes care of itself. Just Plant it in a full sun location in very well-drained soil, and provide new shrubs with regular moisture. However, once established, Junipers are remarkably drought tolerant and Xeric plants! If you do need to trim your shrub or keep wayward branches in check, a spring pruning is all you need.

  • Full Sun Evergreen Shrubs
  • Must Have Well-Drained Soil Of Any Kind
  • Moderate to Low Moisture Needs
  • Prune In Spring If Needed
  • Handles Tough Sites, Shrugs Off Deer & Urban Pollution
  • Hardy & Drought Tolerant

A Good Vibrations® Goild Juniper Bush will dress up all the seasons with little effort required from you. Plant a few today to fill in those bare spots in your landscape with year-round color! Order now at NatureHills.com and boost your garden's good vibes!
