The pretty foliage clumps of the Othello Leopard Plant (Ligularia dentata 'Othello') fills out with huge leathery, toothed, heart-shaped, basal leaves for a fantastic spreading groundcover perennial! New leaves emerge purplish-red but turn to bronzy-green for the summer with deep purple undersides to the leaves for a pretty color contrast.

By midsummer, usually blooming from July to August, Othello becomes festooned in wonderful long-petalled, red-stemmed, yellow-orange daisy-like flowers that the bees and butterflies adore! Ligularia Leopard Plants are vigorous perennials that need to be planted in full shade in hot climates, but can tolerate partial shade/partial sun locations in cooler climates. Plant in about any kind of rich, well-drained area and top-dressed with a 3-4 inch deep layer of mulch around the roots.
