Plant Sentry™
Plant Sentry™
Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.
This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

You literally can't go wrong with easy-care Fool Proof™ Gardenia PP#32472 (Gardenia x 'Leesix')! Decorate your garden with these compact, upright plants with outstanding fragrant double flowers in spring! They look and smell amazing in a vase as a cut flower!
Pollinators and admirers will swarm these ornamental flowering shrubs and return to enjoy the sporadic return blossoms that keep popping up through fall! Each cunning white flower has a double layer of curvy, rotated petals that are waxy and fragrant. The outer petals don't overlap but the inner whorl or petals do for a beautiful layered effect.
The team at Southern Living® Plant Collection has spent years field-testing the performance of this vigorous, disease-resistant, pest-resistant, heat-tolerant beauty! Fool Proof™ even cold-tolerant to Zone 7, a big advantage over other selections!
Planting and Application:
Broad-leaved evergreen Fool Proof™ Gardenia makes a terrific shrub for foundation plantings. It will stay low and tight to fit perfectly underneath windows without much pruning. Run a row or grouping of these fuss-free shrubs to hide away any utilitarian AC units and where the trash cans are kept.
Add curb appeal with a low hedge along the front sidewalk. You'll make the world smile with the strong, sweet smell of the intricate, creamy-white flowers. Create scented privacy, property division, and glossy evergreen backdrops for your landscaping beds anywhere you want year-round color! Space them 30 inches apart on center, measuring from the middle of one to the middle of the next.
Keep a single specimen in an outdoor container to bring a glamorous touch to your balcony, porch, patio, or poolside life! Growing just 3 - 4 feet tall and about as wide, a large urn or raised bed planter shows off these gleaming broadleaf evergreens beautifully in the sun!
Hummingbirds and butterflies love these aromatic, nectar-rich blooms. Use them to provide architectural structure in a Butterfly Garden or mixed garden bed. The dreamy white blossoms are a must-have for the Moon garden and your evening lounge chairs, or simply planted outside a window where the fragrance can waft indoors throughout the night!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Fool Proof™ Gardenias handle cooler climates than others but appreciate being planted in a location where they are protected from the cold, drying winter winds in the winter. Gardenia will perform best in either full sun or partial shade with at least four hours of direct sunlight a day, with morning sun access. In the hottest growing zones, some afternoon shade keeps the foliage looking its best.
Plant in well-drained slightly acidic soils that are organically enriched soil that won't become soggy, but do provide regular moderate moisture access during the first year in the ground. Once established, supplemental moisture during prolonged drought is all these shrubs need! Use the Finger Test to determine when to water. Poke your finger in the ground up to the second knuckle. If it's damp, skip watering, but if it's getting dry...it's time to water. All plants appreciate a 3-4 inch deep layer of mulch around the roots.
Provide regular fertility and prune your shrub after the spring flush of flowers, then deadheading to remove old reblooms to keep the shrub looking tidier.
- Full Sun Broadleaf Evergreens
- Moist Enriched Well-Drained Soil
- Prune After First Flush Of Flowers
- Shrugs Off Heat & High Humidity
