Shipping
To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Understanding Plant Options
Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age

Growing Zones 3-8
Get ready for a Japanese Beetle-resistant Ash Tree with loads of color! The Autumn Blaze Ash Tree (Fraxinus americana 'Autumn Blaze') is a COPF introduction by Morden Research Station in Manitoba, Canada. This is the first White Ash adapted for the prairie region of Canada and the Dakotas.
The foliage is dark green above, paler on the leaf underside, and as a young tree, it tends to be upright oval in habit, later it develops an open and rounded crown. It is a medium fast-growing tree that has ash-gray bark with diamond-shaped furrows.
It has a nice purple fall color, a light seed crop, and a good oval form. The original tree is in Roseau, MN. This ash is rarely or never fed on by Japanese beetles! Autumn Blaze is a tall, deciduous tree that thrives throughout USDA planting zones 3 to 8, growing 50 - 60 feet in height at maturity, and spreading 25 - 30 feet wide.
Landscape Application:
When healthy and vigorous, this makes a beautiful specimen tree and shade tree, casting light shade over your home and lawn without shading out your lawn. Plant a single accent in your front yard, or plant groupings around your backyard for shadier seating areas.
Create showy property division from neighboring properties with a 15-20 feet on center spacing, leaving the lower branches intact for airy screening. Measure from the center of one to the center of the next. The canopies will grow together and touch for a seamless windbreak, privacy hedge, and bird-friendly shelterbelts.
Underplant with shade-loving shrubs and perennials to bring birds and butterflies to your property without worrying they will be completely shaded out. Enjoy the wonderful view from your deck, or dining room each spring, summer, and especially when the tree erupts purple in the fall!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Plant in full sun for the best results. It requires at least six hours of direct sunlight a day. Water your tree carefully to establish it during the first season. From then on, it is moderately drought-resistant, but during an extended drought, water to keep your tree stress-free and to protect your investment. Mulch will also help the root system stay nice and cool. Spread it to three inches thick and out three feet from the canopy. Mulch should not touch the trunk, so pull it away from the tree by several inches.
Ash won't need to be pruned much, as it generally takes on an attractive shape all by itself. Prune young trees by removing crossing limbs and winter die back in the late winter or very early spring. Fertilize with an organic, slow-release formula. Follow the directions and application rate on the package.
