Canna Lily rhizomes are not frost-hardy and do need to be dug in the fall before they freeze. Keep them in a cool, frost-free area in a bag in a garage or shed. During the growing season, keep these full-sun plants in moderately moist to almost wet, well-drained soil that has plenty of mulch over the surface. Provide regular fertilizer and deadhead when blooming is done.
