Understanding Plant Options
Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements
Container Plant Sizes
Container sizes indicate plant age and growing capacity rather than liquid volume equivalents. Our containers follow industry-standard nursery "trade gallon" specifications, which differ from standard liquid gallon measurements.

Growing Zones 8-11
With whimsical blooms that are enough to make a Rose blush. We've never understood why flowers like these aren't more popular! They are easy to care for and are superbly fine. And there's no better variety to prove this point than the Double Picotee Ranunculus (Ranunculus asiaticus 'Picotee''). These magenta margins bleed into their white-to-cream cheese white petals.
Double Ranunculuses are elegant and riveting. Don't be surprised if you find yourself suddenly more interested in photography once Picotee bloom! Each of their delicate petals is highlighted with striated raspberry edges. When the sun's out these petals take on a new characteristic. These wafer-thin petals look luminous as the sun plays between their bountiful layers. The details of these blossoms make them unbelievably cut flowers that last and last.
Want to plant them as annuals? Go for it! These highly desirable blooms are worth every minute they're in bloom! Hardy year-round in the ground throughout USDA growing zones 8 through 11 and are great houseplants and annual container accents for Northern gardeners! Double petaled full Picotee is also a romantic gift!
Planting and Application:
Plant your Picotee Ranunculus where you can admire their sweet color combination. Whether it be as a single-variety mass planting by your garden bench or as a border row for edging, or as groupings beside your patio pavers. They even make an excellent and showy container choice in areas that freeze in winter. These cheery flowers will light up your day no matter where you decide to display them.
Outdoors, these spring and summer blooms add beautiful foliage all growing season along your garden edges and borders, or as filler in planters and window boxes! Once the blooms arrive, bees and butterflies appear to sip the nectar and provide you with plenty of cut flowers for gorgeous bouquet focal points!
- Ombre Creamy White & Pink Blooms With Burgundy Edges
- Long-Lasting & Heavily Layered Blooms
- Annual/Perennial, Houseplants & Containers
- Gorgeous Textured Foliage
- Rows, Specimens, Groupings, Drifts, Porch & Patio!
#ProPlantTips for Care:
Just be sure your Ranunculus gets to enjoy full sun and well-drained soil. These spring corms hide once summer heat kicks in, so deadhead after the flowers fade. Later, trim the leaves down when they turn yellow. For best results, soak your Double Ranunculus tubers for three to four hours in room-temperature water. Plant the tubers with the finger-like structures down about 6 inches in depth and water them in well.
- Full Sun & Partial Shade
- Enriched Well-Drained Soil
- Moderate Moisture
- Hardy Warm Weather Perennial Tubers
