Understanding Plant Options
Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements
Container Plant Sizes
Container sizes indicate plant age and growing capacity rather than liquid volume equivalents. Our containers follow industry-standard nursery "trade gallon" specifications, which differ from standard liquid gallon measurements.

Growing Zones 8-11
Cappuccino Butter Cups (Ranunculus 'Cappuccino'), also known as Ranunculus, are dreamy bi-color blooms with layer upon layer of concentric petals! Each delicate silky petal is a creamy white that blends into an ombre darker pink with dark maroon picotee edges that bleed into the pink. These incredibly frilly and full blooms are absolutely luxurious and elegant!
The clumps of mounding parsley-like green foliage are the perfect lacy foil for the lovely blooms. Each corm can form multiple blooms for a lasting display! Pollinators adore these blooms and you'll be delighted to watch fat bumblebees and honeybees squeeze themselves between the tightly packed layers!
You'll of course want a few of these luscious blooms to create decadent bouquets! Cappuccino Ranunculus are hardy outdoors as perennial corms throughout USDA growing zones 8-11 and stay in tidy mounds 16 inches tall when in bloom. Cooler growing zones can enjoy these perennial bulbs as annual accents or lifted before frost and stored like you would Canna or Elephant Ears.
Planting and Application:
Cappuccino Buttercups look best where you can admire their sweet color combination! Whether it be as a single-variety mass planting by your garden bench or as a border row for edging, or as groupings beside your patio pavers. Persian Buttercups even make an excellent and showy container choice in areas that won't freeze in winter. These cheery flowers will light up your day no matter where you decide to display them.
Outdoors, these spring and summer blooms add beautiful foliage all growing season along your garden edges and borders, in groupings, or as filler in planters and window boxes! Once the blooms arrive, bees and butterflies appear to sip the nectar and provide you with plenty of cut flowers for gorgeous bouquet focal points!
- Creamy White Blooms With Picotee Pink/Maroon Edges
- Long-Lasting & Heavily Layered Blooms
- Annual/Perennial, Houseplants & Containers
- Gorgeous Textured Foliage
- Rows, Specimens, Groupings, Drifts, Porch & Patio!
#ProPlantTips for Care:
Just be sure your Ranunculus gets to enjoy full sun and well-drained soil. These spring corms hide once summer heat kicks in, so deadhead after the flowers fade. Later, trim the leaves down when they turn yellow. For best results, soak your Ranunculus corms for three to four hours in room-temperature water. Plant the corms with the finger-like structures down about 6 inches in depth and water them in well.
