  • Sunlight: This tree demands at least 8 to 10 hours of direct sunlight daily to produce the sweetest fruit and deepest red flesh. While it can survive in partial shade, you will notice a significant drop in fruit production and the oranges may lack their signature vibrant interior color.
  • Soil: Aim for well draining soil that feels gritty rather than sticky, as orange trees hate having wet feet. If you have heavy clay, plant the tree in a raised mound or a large container to improve drainage and prevent root rot.

Watering Requirements

During the first year, water your tree twice a week to keep the root ball moist while it establishes itself in its new home.
