Understanding Plant Options
Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements
Container Plant Sizes
Container sizes indicate plant age and growing capacity rather than liquid volume equivalents. Our containers follow industry-standard nursery "trade gallon" specifications, which differ from standard liquid gallon measurements.

Growing Zones 5-8
Marquis Seedless Grape Vine (Vitis vinifera 'Marquis') is a wonderful white Grape that forms large clusters of plump green jewels! These self-pollinating Vines are ideal for producing delicious table fruit, preserves and desserts! Robustly growing and vigorous, Marquis is an easy-to-grow variety that you will love growing in your orchard or landscape!
Forming from fragrant greenish panicles that bees go Ga-Ga for, the fruit is ripe around September depending on your climate. When ripe, these Grapes take on a golden hue and have exceptional flavor and quality! A fantastic table Grape without pesky seeds, these flavorful fruits are perfect for fresh eating and snacking, charcuterie boards, lunch boxes, and made into preserves, but are also known to produce a delicate white wine.
The strong Vines do need stronger support to hold up their vigorously growing nature! The foliage is a lovely green with a felted underside for a lovely two-tone effect in the landscape! Growing to a good 4-10 feet tall and spreading to 9-12 feet wide, proper pruning can easily control the size to suit your own needs. Hardy throughout USDA growing zones 5-8, deer and rabbits usually leave these alone, but you may want some bird netting to keep your feathered friends away from some of your fruit in the fall.
Planting and Application:
From the blooms to the fruit, to the lovely foliage and robust growth, these are excellent vertically growing edible landscaping plants for all sunny areas of your garden and landscape! Beautiful on its own, as a specimen plant, or as part of the larger landscape, Catawba Grapes are sure to please. Stake up or secure your Vines to a trellis or on strong support for these Grapes. Even a strong fence will do well for these Grape Vines, providing screening and privacy along with the delicious fruit!
Grow this fruiting Vine over a pergola or arbor and create lovely shade and give your seating areas or garden benches a romantic nook and the feeling of privacy! You will love having breakfast in your own Vineyard or serving up a summer feast with friends surrounded by these ornamental Vines!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
They are easy to grow with a little care and planning, plus plenty of sunshine. Provide plenty of regular moisture to get it established and it will reward you with years of delicious fruit. The Marquis prefers deep, acidic and well-drained soil but can tolerate a wide range of soil types. Provide regular moisture and a 3-4 inch thick mulch layer to support the roots, plus regular fertility. Pruning Grapevines should be performed in late winter or early spring to maintain the shape, size, and vigor of next year's fruiting wood.
- Full Sun
- Moderate Regular Moisture & Fertility
- Appreciates Mulched Beds
- Self-Fertile - Higher Productivity With Another Vine Nearby
- Healthy, Hardy Vines - Prune in Late Winter/Early Spring
- Low Chill Hours
