  • Sunlight: These strawberries require at least 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight daily to produce high sugar content and firm fruit. While they can survive in partial shade, you will notice a significant drop in berry production and a much slower ripening process.
  • Soil: Aim for a loamy, well drained soil rich in organic matter with a slightly acidic pH. If you have heavy clay, plant them in raised beds or containers to prevent crown rot, or mix in compost to improve drainage and aeration.

Watering Requirements

During the first growing season, keep the soil consistently moist like a wrung out sponge to help the shallow root systems establish. Once mature, provide about 1 inch of water per week, increasing this during the heat of summer to prevent the berries from shriveling.
