Understanding Plant Options
Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements
Container Plant Sizes
Container sizes indicate plant age and growing capacity rather than liquid volume equivalents. Our containers follow industry-standard nursery "trade gallon" specifications, which differ from standard liquid gallon measurements.

Growing Zones 6 - 8
Gorgeous bi-color with showy contrasting colors, the elegant Miss Saigon Dutch Iris (Iris hollandica 'Miss Saigon') will turn heads! With vertical soft purple standards, antique gold falls, and peachy upturned ruffled accents, Miss Saigon is a truly unique form of Dutch Iris!
Growing about 20 inches tall when in bloom, held aloft by sturdy, slender stems, Dutch Iris bulbs produce vertical green grass-like foliage clumps like their larger Iris cousins. You'll love snipping these blooms for bouquets and watching fat bees attempt to wriggle between the petals in search of nectar and pollen!
Hardy throughout USDA planting zones 6 to 8, these two-tone blossoms shine in the sunny landscape or in your seasonal pots and planters! Order plenty, because you’ll want to fill your garden with these unique spring flowers!
Planting and Application:
Miss Saigon Dutch Iris mixes beautifully with other Dutch Iris and spring flowering bulbs. Try Golden Beauty and Picasso Dutch Iris with their matching color schemes, or yellow and purple Tulips, and purple and yellow Muscari or Hyacinths! You'll create a lovely spring bulb garden that will catch all the neighbor's attention!
Dutch Iris lights up the Rock garden, highlights Cottage borders and mixed perennial beds, and is a tall backdrop for other spring ephemerals in your cut flower beds, or pollinator garden! These Dutch Iris are dramatic upright thrillers for your seasonal planters on your porch and patio!
- Bi-Color Purple & Gold Scented Blooms
- Upright Green Sword-Like Foliage
- Fantastic Cut Flowers & Pollinator-Friendly
- Works in Containers & Planters
- Gorgeous Specimens, Focal Points, Mass Plantings & Rows
#ProPlantTips for Care:
Dutch Iris should be planted in the fall in a sunny, well-drained location that won't become soggy, but remains moderately moist. Top-dress with a 3-4 inch layer of arborist mulch chips to help retain moisture and protect the bulbs (unlike other Irises that grow from rhizomes and like to be partially exposed.).
Every few years divide the bulb clumps and clean out any older, non-productive bulbs to maintain vigor. Deadhead the flowers after they fade, but keep the leaves to make food for the bulb. Prune away the foliage after it yellows to the ground.
- Full Sun & Partial Shade
- Fast Growing in Fertile Well-Drained Soil
- Appreciates Mulched Beds & Regular Moisture
- Deadhead & Prune After Foliage Yellows
- Deer-Resistant
