Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

*If you have found your zone already, it will be highlighted in the table below.

Homegrown banana bunches - Want to feel like you're at a tropical resort? Do you enjoy tasty bananas? Well, we have the perfect tree for you! Dwarf Cavendish Banana Tree (Musa acuminata 'Dwarf Cavendish') is perfect for almost any size yard! It's attractive, compact, and produces petite bananas! Doesn't that sound a-peeling?

The Dwarf Cavendish is one of the most important varieties of Banana in the world today. Since the 1950s, the Dwarf Cavendish has made up the lion’s share of all Bananas sold.

This variety has become the variety that all others are compared to for flavor and adaptability. The Dwarf Cavendish produces Bananas that range in size from five inches to eight inches. It will produce a bunch of Bananas each year - up to 90 bananas, so be sure to share!

Planting and Application:

An immature Dwarf Cavendish Banana will have purple or red splotching on its smooth green leaves, that fades as it matures. When fully grown, it’s regal and attractive, with broad, shiny green leaves, and yellowish-green bark. You'll feel like you're in a tropical paradise!

Because of its easy-going nature and dwarf size, many choose to keep theirs in a container (this also keeps the plant smaller). This self-pollinating tree is perfect for patios or gardens. Keep beside your front or backdoor, so you can just reach out and pluck a snack.

  • Compact dwarf - Mature trees produce up to 90 Bananas annually
  • Easy to grow & self-fruitful
  • Banana bread, pudding, Banana pancakes & eating fresh
  • In colder climates, can be grown as a houseplant
  • Pollinator-friendly when it blooms for other Banana varieties

#ProPlantTips for Care:

The Dwarf Cavendish Banana grows well planted in your garden in full sun with well-drained but high-medium moisture soil. This sub-tropical dwarf is great for young gardeners to learn about plant growth and harvesting!

This plant is perfect for those that want a tree's worth of bananas without the space a full-size tree requires.

  • Disease resistant
  • Hardy in Zones 9-10 or in a container on a porch or greenhouse for cooler climates
  • Full sun & high fertility & moist soil
  • Grows up to 5-6 feet tall & 7-8 feet wide foliage
  • Visit our Garden Blog for more Fruit Trees for a Small Yard
