urban-spire-dawn-redwood
Urban Spire Dawn Redwood

Urban Spire Dawn Redwood (Metasequoia glyptostroboides 'Urban Spire') is a narrow, columnar dawn redwood built for tight spaces. It grows 18 to 20 feet tall but only 8 to 11 feet wide, and it thrives in zones 4 through 9.

Most dawn redwoods spread into broad pyramids. Urban Spire keeps its branches angled sharply upward, so it forms a true spire of soft, feathery green needles. In fall the needles turn orange before they drop, and the slim, upright frame stays handsome all winter.

That narrow shape makes it a natural fit for small home gardens, side yards, borders, street plantings and boulevards, or anywhere you want height without giving up much ground. Plant a row for a tall living accent along a drive or property line.

It grows in full sun to part shade and takes average garden soil. Urban Spire is tougher than its looks, tolerating poorly drained new-construction soil and ground that is wet in spring and dry in summer once it is established.

Add Urban Spire Dawn Redwood to your cart for a slim, graceful conifer that fits where other trees will not.
