Make a big visual impact with this low-growing, native, First Editions® Cool Splash® Dwarf Bush Honeysuckle PP#19,391 (Diervilla sessilifolia 'LPDC Podaras'). Each narrow, dark green leaf is punctuated with a "pop" of bright white at the margin! With variegated foliage and fragrant yellow flowers in summertime, Cool Splash® Bush Honeysuckle definitely earns a starring role in your landscape!

Rather, it stays low to the ground in a mounded growth habit. It spreads out a bit to cover bare ground in a gorgeous way. Cool Splash® Honeysuckle will soon become one of your favorite shrubs for its exquisite, variegated foliage. The 4-inch, ovate to lance-shaped leaves feature dark green centers surrounded by bright white to ivory margins.

You'll relish the heady summertime fragrance, too. Clusters of brilliant yellow, trumpet-shaped blooms are an elegant contrast against showy red stems. They bloom for a long time in the summer. Use this native cultivar selection as an important nectar source for your local Butterflies and Hummingbirds too!

Cool Splash® is the first variegated Diervilla Honeysuckle, and it is a winner! The margins turn pink for a fall color display. It is densely branched, with a rounded habit and arching nature, Cool Splash® is low maintenance so it won't require much of your time or effort. Hardy throughout USDA growing zones 4 to 7 and grows to 2-4 feet in height and in width, forming a colorful rounded ornamental shrub!

Cool Splash® stays full and lush all the way down to the ground. Line your garden beds with these pretty "workhorses" and you'll be well on your way to a gorgeous, low-maintenance landscape. This is a wonderful choice to create an easy-care mass planting. Plant two feet apart on center, measuring from the center of one to the center of the next.

The bright, white, and green foliage call attention to itself. Use a series of these plants along the dappled shady edge of a woodland path. Use as erosion control and soil stabilizing on slopes and embankments as a safe alternative to turf. These shrubs are especially lovely in a naturalized area on a hillside or rough location that needs some definition.

Use them near the edge of walkways for a big visual impact. Try them as an impactful Filler in exterior planters. Plant one in an unexpected and amusing spot. Underplant your mature foundation evergreens with Cool Splash®. You'll appreciate how they look bright and clean all season long.

The ornamental features of Cool Splash® are sophisticated enough for high-end commercial properties. But, this small shrub brightens the Moon Garden, and it plays beautifully in cottage-style gardens, too. It's the little details that make a garden or landscape shine. Use the versatile, hard-working Cool Splash® Bush Honeysuckle throughout your space to help tie the entire design together.

#ProPlantTips for Care:

This rugged Diervilla thrives just about wherever it's planted. It's simply not fussy about soil type and can grow in either full sun or partial shade. It can even puts up with road salt, so can be used in street plantings. You can plant it almost anywhere, but you'll have the best foliage color in full sun. Our team has seen it perform well in shady areas that receive a bit less than 4 hours of sun a day.

Provide a medium amount of water on a regular basis for best results. Add a 3-4 inch layer of arborist mulch over the root system to keep it cool and moist. Prune in early spring to shape or shorten. Cool Splash is easily kept smaller if needed, with early trimming.
