felix-magnolia
Felix® Magnolia Tree

Felix® Magnolia Tree (Magnolia x 'JURmag2') is an upright flowering magnolia with hot pink blooms up to 12 inches across and a strong fragrance. It grows 16 to 22 feet tall and 5 to 7 feet wide, and it is hardy in zones 5 through 9.

The flowers open in early spring on bare branches, before the leaves, so nothing hides them. Felix blooms young, often within two years of planting, so you are not waiting years for the first show. Light green leaves follow the flowers and cover the tree through summer.

Its narrow, upright, pyramidal shape lets it fit where a wide saucer magnolia will not: a side yard, a spot near the house, or a lawn specimen in a smaller landscape. Plant it where you can see it from a window in early spring, and cut a stem in bud to bring the fragrance indoors.

Give it full sun and deep, enriched, moist, well-drained soil that is neutral to acidic. Because it blooms early, choose a spot sheltered from strong wind and away from a warm, south-facing wall, which can push buds open before the last frost. Water deeply and regularly while it gets established, then deeply when the soil is dry. Deer tend to pass it by.

Add Felix® Magnolia Tree to your cart for hot pink, dinner-plate blooms on a tree that fits a smaller yard.
