    Eastern Red Bud

Hi, I have had an ERB tree planted in my front yard for about 8 yrs.  Every yr she has grown taller and spread her branches and bloomed profusely.  However, this yr she did not bloom, but she is not dead.  There is a sort of silvery gray moss growing on the bark of the tree and some branches.  All the buds were black.

Any ideas what is wrong?  How can I repair/help her?

Thanks, she is a great shade tree in front of my west facing garden.

Hi Judith and thank you for the question. The best advice I could give you is to call an arborist to have them inspect the tree. I'm not familiar with the silvery gray moss you describe.
