Peach Rootstock

Following are a couple of widely used peach rootstocks:

Nemaguard Peach Rootstock:  This rootstock is used for nectarines, peaches, apricots, plums, and almonds. It is vigorous and resistant to root knot nematode. Nemaguard is an excellent rootstock for well drained soils. In slower draining soils, plant on mounds or berms. Unpruned tree height of standard varieties is 15 to 25 feet. Trees on Nemaguard may be held to any desired height by summer pruning.

Lovell Peach Rootstock: Lovell is used for nectarines, peaches, apricots, plums, and almonds. It is vigorous and more tolerant of wet soils than Nemaguard and more cold hardy. It is susceptable to nematodes in sandy soils. Unpruned tree height of standard varieties is 15 to 25 feet. Trees on Lovell may be held to any desired height by summer pruning.
