In this day and age, people are becoming more and more aware of the environment. People are trying to make the effort to reduce their carbon foot print so that the earth can be a better place for coming generations. There are many ways to make a difference, and the great thing is that you can start right in your own community. All it takes is a vision and a little motivation. We are starting to see some motivation from the people submitting ideas to the Green America Awards.
Teaching the children how to be green is important. Showing our nation's youth good habits while they are young will put them on the right path for years to come. Many schools are submitting plans to beautify their school grounds if they are awarded a Green America Award. The idea is to not only improve the look of the school for the community to enjoy, but to use the experience as a real live teaching tool. Some are even enlisting the help of local master gardeners.
It is great to see children getting excited about their community's environment. Keep the green ideas coming, as there is still plenty of time to submit your plans for the awards.
