The Americana Orchid Geranium has one of the most beautiful flower heads of all plants.  The flowers are huge with a lavendar or some say medium pink color.  The center of the blossoms are white.  It has a well branched structure which really shows off the flowers.  The leaves and stems are succulent and green.  They are sometimes called zonal or garden geraniums.  They do well in almost all types of containers.  They can be seen growing from small pots to huge containers.  Window boxes are another popular place to plant them, they can be combined with petunias and ivy for an attractive mix.  Hanging baskets are very beautiful as well.

The geraniums are popular due to the fact that they can be grown in almost every region of the country.  They are hardy from zone 3 to zone 11.  They are an annual in zones 3 to 8 and can be a perennial in zones 9 to 11.  It does require full sun and will mature from 12 to 18 inches in height and 12 to 15 inches wide.  They have an upright growth habit and a moderate growth rate.  This American Orchid Geranium would fit in any garden or patio space.
