Common Questions Answered

Where do I plant the Lobelia ‘Laguna Compact Blue with Eye’ ?

Lobelia, generally known as Wild or Indian Tobacco, is an annual or biennial indigenous plant with a fibrous, yellowish-white root, and an erect, angular, very hairy stem.  It grows any where from 6 inches to 3 feet in height;  known for its tolerance of heat and cold.

The Lobelia ‘Laguna Compact Blue with Eye’ likes full sun to partial shade and prefers cool weather; grows 8-12 inches in height.  This plant will thrive in moist to wet soil along creek beds and streams, or in natural wetlands.  You do not need to remove dead flower blooms, except for appearance.  The plant may be trimmed back at anytime if you feel it could use it.  A yearly application of fertilizer or compost on garden beds and regular fertilization of plants in pots will help ensure the best possible blooms.

You have chosen a beautiful blue Lobelia that fits perfectly into the Proven Winners collection.  Lobelia Laguna offers unstoppable garden performance with its large blue flower that is accented with a bright white eye.  Laguna is an outstanding plant for all summer flowering and works well as a great mixed container plant, although it has the color and habit that allow it to stand alone as a specimen.

For zones 9-11, this plant can also be a perennial.
