Yes, I think there are some advantages besides the landscaping element for a yard. You will have better control of the garden soil or growing medium for your plants. Another obvious advantage is that a raised bed means less bending over which is great for my aching back. The ease of gardening from a sitting or kneeling position is greatly enhanced. Looking for those hidden vegetables towards the rear of the garden is much easier when you are naturally closer.
A raised bed also creates the opportunity to blend your garden into your landscape. Surrounding the raised bed with stone or other materials can create a focal point in your yard. If the raised garden is place up against a fence, the eye is drawn to the garden and not a boundary demarcation.
