Delphiniums grow best in full sun and afternoon shade, in locations with enriched, well-drained soil with a basic pH. If your soil is naturally acidic, adding lime will help to provide these conditions. Delphinium appreciates a 3-4 inch thick layer of mulch over the roots. Provide regular moisture all summer for best results and to support the huge blooms.

These dwarf-sized stems rarely need any staking when planted in a protected area, so they remain upright with no problem! But if you do grow them in windy locations, a firm stake will help support their stems.
